Boilermaker Classic Extended Through Monday

The Boilers begin a 19-day homestand starting with hosting the Boilermaker Classic this weekend from Mar. 6 to Mar. 9.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Boilers begin a 19-day homestand starting with hosting the Boilermaker Classic this weekend from Mar. 6 to Mar. 9. 

The tournament was originally slated to be Friday through Sunday, but was extended an extra day to accommodate for weather, which added an extra game for the Boilers.

Purdue will host Northern Illinois, St. Bonaventure, and Green Bay, beginning with a matchup against the Bonnies tomorrow, Mar. 6 at 2:30 p.m. est.

The Boilers will continue tournament play on Saturday, Mar. 7 with another lone game against NIU also slated for 2:30 p.m. est. On Sunday, Purdue will play a pair of games taking on the Huskies again at 3:00 p.m, before closing out the day with Green Bay at 5:30 p.m. est. The tournament finale will be on Monday Mar. 9 where Purdue will play a single matchup against Green Bay at 1:30 p.m. est.

All Purdue home games will be streamed on B1G+.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
St. Bonaventure has had a rough beginning to 2026, currently winless after the first four weeks of play. The Bonnies currently post an 0-18 record. St. Bonaventure has battled in a few close matchups, falling to East Texas A&M 4-3, as well as 3-1 to Houston. The Bonnies earned 11 wins during the 2025 season, going 5-20 in conference with wins over Mercyhurst, St. Joseph’s, Niagara, and a sweep of Rhode Island. The Bonnies come into the Boilermaker Classic hungry for their first victory. 

NIU has only played eight games in the 2026 season, going an even 4-4 so far. The Huskies have taken victories over Abilene Christian, North Carolina A&T, Morehead State, and Bradley. NIU has also taken on some tough competition including SEC foes in Texas and Kentucky, as well as power four teams Syracuse and Ohio State.

Green Bay comes into the weekend 2-14 with wins over Lindenwood and Indiana State. The Phoenix did not collect their first two victories until the most recent tournament at the Lindenwood invite. Green Bay was 19-32 during the 2025 season, winning two games during the Horizon League Championships before being knocked out by No. 1 seeded Cleveland State.

SERIES HISTORY
Purdue and NIU have met in 15 games, with Purdue leading the series 12-3. The Boilers have won the last four matchups against the Huskies, with their last loss coming in 2006. The Boilers won the initial matchup between the two teams as well as the latest matchup in 2020.

Purdue and St. Bonaventure have only faced one another once in their histories. Purdue defeated the Bonnies 8-0 in 2016 at a neutral site in Clearwater, Fla.

Purdue and Green Bay have also only faced one another once in their histories. The Boilers defeated the Phoenix 5-0 back in 2014.

The Boilers faced the Bonnies for their first and only matchup on Mar. 16, 2026, while just two years prior they faced Green Bay for their first and only matchup on Mar. 16, 2014.
