WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Athletics today announced a significant investment for hundreds of its student-athletes, implementing a home recovery system beginning with the 2024-25 season. Boilermaker student-athletes can now utilize recovery technology from Hyperice, a global high-performance wellness brand, and are able to take home products such as Normatec dynamic air compression boots, Hypervolt percussion massage guns, and Hypersphere vibrating massage tools, from athletic facilities for personal use.
The Hyperice kits will allow Purdue student-athletes to recover at home, providing benefits integral to their health, well-being and mental success.
Funded through support from the John Purdue Club's Forging Ahead campaign, the investment in support signifies another impressive step forward for the Boilermaker student-athlete experience. Learn more about the Forging Ahead campaign here.
The award-winning Normatec technology is used by the world's top athletes, utilizing air compression technology to massage leg muscles either before or after physical exertion. Normatec helps athletes recover quickly ahead of their next practice or workout by promoting the natural movement of fluid in the body, reducing swelling and increasing range of motion.
Hypervolt, Hyperice's percussion massage tool, helps reduce muscle soreness throughout the body. The massage gun can be used before and after workouts to help prevent injuries, reduce muscle pain and tension, increase range of motion, and speed up recovery.
The Hypersphere is a vibrating massage ball that unlocks muscle tension and helps student-athletes prepare their bodies for a workout. The Hypersphere can be used to relieve muscle soreness to prepare for the next training session, enabling further specific area targeting within muscle groups.
The investment of more than 1,000 devices will allow for Boilermakers across the athletic program to have access to cutting-edge technology from Hyperice on an on-demand basis to meet the needs of their schedules.
