NUMBERS TO KNOW 3 - Matt Ramos has knocked off three No. 1s in the last year, two coming this season. Last weekend, he upset Iowa's Drake Ayala 4-1 in Carver-Hawkeye.
2 - Joey Blaze's is the only true freshman under Ersland to knock off a top-5 opponent. He's done it twice. Only two others have a top-10 win.
81 - Ramos is outscoring opponents 81-10 in back points over the last two seasons, only giving up 2 this year (he won that match).
299 - Purdue has won 13 of the last 14 duals against Indiana, outscoring the Hoosiers 299-151 in that stretch.
ERSLAND AGAINST THE HOOSIERS The Boilermakers have an excellent record against their in-state rivals during Ersland's time at the helm. Purdue has won eight of the nine duals, taking eight straight at the beginning of his tenure.

Prior to dropping last season's matchup, the Boilers had taken 12 straight from the Hoosiers. Purdue holds a 16-8 record in the 21st century and has a 27-14-1 advantage in the last 30 years.
FRESHMEN PHENOMS True freshmen Joey Blaze and Greyson Clark earned spots in the lineup from day one of their college careers and have already shown the talent that made them both top-30 recruits.

Blaze (14-5) made the biggest splash early by knocking off No. 5 Ed Scott of N.C. State in sudden victory. He was the first unranked Boiler to beat a top-5 opponent since Griffin Parriott beat Nebraska's No. 3 Tyler Berger in sudden victory. He is one of just five under Ersland to defeat top-5 opposition while unranked themselves.

Clark (13-5) has shown technique beyond his years. He leads the team with 38 back points on 11 near-fall attempts with five bonus point victories to his name.
NCAA COACHES' RANKINGS RELEASED Four Purdue wrestlers appeared in the first edition of the NCAA coaches' rankings for the 2024 NCAA Wrestling Championships released on Monday morning.

Matt Ramos (No. 2 at 125), Greyson Clark (No. 30 at 141), Joey Blaze (No. 18 at 157), and Stoney Buell (No. 30 at 165) represent the Boilermakers in the initial list.

Clark and Blaze are only the third and fourth true freshmen Boilermakers to be included in the rankings since the NCAA began releasing them in 2012. They are highest ranked in the first week of the poll, beating out Garrett Nijenhuis' No. 32 ranking in 2019. Blaze coming in at No. 18 is the highest ranking by a true freshman Boiler at any point in the poll's history.
