Becker Tabbed 2nd All-American in Purdue History

Purdue softball's all-time leader in runs Rachel Becker joined elite ranks after being voted Third Team All-America At-Large at the shortstop position, announced Wednesday evening by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue softball's all-time leader in runs Rachel Becker joined elite ranks after being voted Third Team All-America At-Large at the shortstop position, announced Wednesday evening by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

The honor is just the second time in program history a Boilermaker was awarded All-America honors, coming after second baseman Andrea Hillsey received first team accolades in 2003.

The senior, who scooped up First Team All-Big Ten and All-Region honors for two consecutive years, recorded a .429 batting average in her final campaign. Not only did the mark lead the Big Ten (a feat she accomplished for two consecutive years), but also was good for third-best in program history. Additionally, the Lindenhurst, Illinois product added her name to the Purdue season annals in three additional categories: on-base % (third-best with a .522 mark), slugging % (fifth with a .662 mark) and doubles (tied for fifth with 15).

During her Boilermaker career, Becker amassed a .394 career batting average, one of only nine players in Big Ten history to do so. In addition to leading Purdue history with 149 runs, Becker finishes her Purdue career second in batting average (.394), second in doubles (48), third in walks (100) and assists (473) and fifth in slugging % (.543).

Becker, who started in every game over the last four years, is also a three-time Academic All-Big Ten and two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree. She graduated in May with a degree in chemical engineering.
