WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue track & field team's outdoor schedule, which features meets in 10 states, has been unveiled by coach Norbert Elliott.
The outdoor season commences on March 18 in Oxford, Ohio, and continues through the NCAA Championships from June 8-11 and World Championships from July 15-24, both in Eugene, Oregon. The Big Ten Championships is set for Minneapolis, and the NCAA East Prelims will be held in Bloomington, Indiana.
"We are excited about this year's outdoor schedule, with several great meets on the calendar," Elliott said. "Some traditional meets are back on the schedule in 2022, including the highly-competitive Florida Relays and Drake Relays, which both will provide great opportunities for our student-athletes as we prepare for the Big Ten and NCAA Championships. We're in the midst of a more traditional indoor schedule, and we look forward to that continuing into an exciting outdoor season."
The outdoor season begins with a pair of meets for Purdue's distance runners. They will open the campaign in Oxford, Ohio, at the Blizzard Buster on March 18, followed by a trip to Raleigh, North Carolina, for the Raleigh Relays from March 24-26.
First up on the schedule for the full team is the Florida Relays, from March 31-April 2 in Gainesville, Florida.
Purdue travels to a pair of meets from April 8-9, including one within the state. The Boilermakers will compete at the Texas A&M Team Invitational in College Station, Texas, and the Pacesetter Sports Invitational in Terre Haute, Indiana.
The Louisville Invitational is up next, from April 15-16 in Louisville, Kentucky, followed by another split weekend. The distance runners make the short trip south to Bloomington, Indiana, for the Indiana Invitational from April 22-23, while the rest of the team competes at the LSU Alumni Gold on April 23 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The regular season concludes at the Drake Relays. The annual event in Des Moines, Iowa, is set for April 27-30.
Postseason competition commences with the Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championships from May 13-15. Minnesota is this year's host in Minneapolis. The NCAA East Preliminary Round is set for May 25-28 in Bloomington, Indiana, where the Boilermakers will compete for berths in the NCAA Championships.
The NCAA season concludes at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon, from June 8-11.
Additionally, the IAAF World Athletics Championships is coming to the United States this summer, as Eugene will host this year's event from July 15-24.
The 2022 outdoor track & field schedules comes after Purdue had a Big Ten-only regular-season slate in 2021.
