WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Big Ten Conference unveiled its 2022 wrestling schedule Wednesday, announcing Purdue's final eight dual dates for the upcoming season. The conference made two significant changes to the wrestling calendar for 2022, reducing the number of Big Ten duals from nine to eight, and mirroring the conference's East/West format for scheduling.

"Any piece of information that takes us one step closer to the season starting is a welcome one in my book," said Purdue head coach Tony Ersland. "We're very pleased with how the schedule played out and can't wait to get things going."

The projected Purdue lineup has six individuals in the preseason rankings, via InterMat Wrestling, and the outstanding Big Ten remains as tough as ever. The Boilermakers' eight conference dual opponents boast a combined 55 ranked wrestlers, including 21 individuals ranked inside the top-10 at their respective weight classes.

The Big Ten schedule will open just after the start of the New Year, with teams opening competition on Friday, January 7, 2022. The Boilermakers will get things going on the road, heading west to face Nebraska and defending conference and NCAA Champion Iowa on January 7 and 9, respectively.

The Boilermakers open their Big Ten home schedule on Saturday, January 15, hosting Michigan State in Holloway Gymnasium. Purdue has won eight straight over Michigan State, including last year's 21-12 victory over the No. 22 Spartans in East Lansing. The homestand continues the following weekend as Purdue will play host to Illinois and Wisconsin on Friday and Sunday, January 21 and 23, respectively.

Purdue's annual intrastate rivalry against Indiana is slotted for Saturday, January 29 in Bloomington, where the Boilermakers will aim for their 12th straight over the Hoosiers. The Boilermakers posted a dominant 38-3 win over Indiana in Holloway in 2021, winning nine of the 10 weights and taking six by bonus points.

The Boilermakers' final home dual of 2022 is set for Sunday, February 6, as Minnesota comes to West Lafayette. After an open weekend, Purdue will finish the regular season at Northwestern on Saturday, February 19, battling the Wildcats at Welsh-Ryan Arena.

The Big Ten Championships are scheduled for March 5-6 and will be hosted for the first time by Nebraska at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The NCAA Championships will follow March 17-19 at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.

Purdue's dates and times are subject to change with the pending Big Ten Network television schedule, which is projected to be released in the next month.
