The match will be played at the Mollenkopf Athletic Center. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, fans will not be allowed.
 
The Boilermakers (0-1-0, 0-1-0 Big Ten) opened the year with a 1-0 loss at Illinois on Feb. 18, while the Terrapins (0-0-1, 0-0-1 Big Ten) began the season with a 1-1 home draw against Michigan State on Feb. 20.
 
Purdue's six saves in its season-opening match were third-most in the Big Ten, while the team's 12 shots ranked No. 4. Maryland's one goal is tied for the conference lead, and UMD is No. 2 in the league in shots per match, with 13.00.
 
Individually, junior goalkeeper Marisa Bova is No. 3 in the conference in saves per match, with 6.00, and freshman forward Nicole Kevdzija is No. 7 in shots per match.
 
LAST TIME OUT: AT ILLINOIS
In its first match since November, 2019, Purdue opened the 2020-21 season with a 1-0 loss to Illinois on Feb. 18 at the Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield, Indiana. The Boilermakers had a 12-8 advantage in shots and Bova made six saves, but a goal by the Fighting Illini in the 81st minute broke a scoreless tie. Four of Purdue's shots went on goal, while seven of Illinois' were on net.
 
The loss snapped a five-match win streak in season-openers for the Boilermakers, who opened the year against a Big Ten opponent for the first time in program history.
 
Kevdzija led the Boilermakers with three shots, one on goal, and redshirt junior forward Sarah Griffith had two shots. Four other players had a shot in the contest, and Kevdzija was one of three with shots on goal. Bova's six saves were one shy of tying her career high. Four of her stops were in the final 45 minutes.
 
SERIES HISTORY VS. MARYLAND
Purdue is 3-2 all-time against Maryland and a perfect 2-0 in West Lafayette. Both home matches, in 2016 and 2017, where shutouts, 1-0 and 2-0, respectively.
 
Last season in College Park, Maryland, the Terrapins won a 2-1 contest. Griffith scored in the 25th minute and Leanna Rebimbas earned the assist. However, UMD scored in the 64th minute to even the match and again in the 84th to take the lead. Griffith led the team with four shots and Rebimbas had three, two on goal. Bova made four saves.
 
SCOUTING THE TERRAPINS
Maryland is 0-0-1 following a 1-1 draw against Michigan State at home to open the campaign. The Spartans scored in the 63rd minute before the Terrapins evened the match in the 89th, with 1:07 left on the clock. UMD had a 13-10 advantage in shots and a 5-3 edge in shots on goal.
 
A year ago, Maryland went 9-8-3 and 5-5-1 in the Big Ten. The Terrapins were 7-1-2 at home and 2-7-1 in road or neutral-site contests.
 
UP NEXT: VS. RUTGERS
The Boilermakers are back home on Sunday, Feb. 28 when they host Rutgers. Kickoff is set for noon at the Mollenkopf Athletic Center.
 
BOILERMAKER DEBUTS
Kevdzija was one of five Boilermakers to make their Purdue debuts against Illinois and one of four in the starting lineup. Sophomore midfielder Gabby Hollar and freshmen midfielders Victoria Kevdzija and Emily Mathews also started, while freshman forward/defender Samantha Wong came off the bench.
