GOLF, Ill. – The Purdue women's golf team opened its 2019-20 season at the Windy City Collegiate Classic on Monday. Playing 36 holes in the first and second rounds of the event hosted by Northwestern at Glen View Club, the Boilermakers finished the day 23-over par and sit in 12th place heading into Tuesday's final round.
Individually, junior Inez Wanamarta posted the most consistent play, finishing the day three-over par at 147. Including a one-under effort of 71 in the opening round, she recorded 29 pars, a pair of birdies and is tied for 35th going into Tuesday.
After posting a five-over 77 in the first round, sophomore Danielle du Toit rallied for a team-best five birdies en route to a one-under 71 in the second round and into a tie for 40th overall at 148.
Senior Micaela Farah also turned her day around, finishing with an even-par second round of 72. Farah enters the final 18 holes tied for 54th overall with a two-round tally of seven-over par 151.
Making her collegiate debut, true freshman Sifat Sagoo shot back-to-back rounds of 74 and 79 to wrap up a tie for 64th with a nine-over score of 153. Sagoo recorded her first college birdie on the 503-yard, par-five sixth hole in her first round.
Junior Lauren Guiao rounded out the day for Purdue, shooting 81 in the opening round and 80 in the latter 18 to sit tied for 78th at 161.
Florida, which entered the classic ranked sixth in the Women's Golf Coaches Association top 25, leads the event with a two-round score of 10-under 566. The loaded field includes 13 teams that were either ranked or receiving votes in the latest WGCA poll.
The Boilermakers, paired with Iowa State and Ohio State, will tee off Tuesday at 8:39 a.m. ET.
