AMES, Iowa – Leanna Rebimbas and Sarah Griffith stole the show at the Cyclone Sports Complex, netting the two goals in Purdue's 2-1 victory over Iowa State Sunday afternoon. With the win, Purdue remains undefeated with a 4-0-0 record, while Iowa State moved to 1-3-0.
Despite a slow start for the Boilermakers, which saw Iowa State score in the 15th minute, by the second half Purdue took control and did not look back for the remainder of the game.
Nineteen of Purdue's 21 shots in the game came after Iowa State's goal. Meanwhile, the Boilermakers out-shot the Cyclones 14-4 in the second half.
Griffith had a hand in both goals, notching the assist for freshman Rebimbas' equalizer, before netting the game-winner (unassisted) just ten minutes later. Rebimbas has scored in two consecutive games, while Griffith has scored her second of the season.

Teagan Jones split the defenders in mid-field for a pass to Hannah Melchiorre. As the junior was preparing to shoot inside the box, a Cyclone defender disrupted her play. Melchiorre got a shot off, but it went straight to the keeper's hands.

Purdue will return to Folk Field for the Boilermaker Challenge Cup tournament, which will begin Friday, September 6. The Boilermakers will host DePaul, Kansas and South Carolina in a round-robin style tournament. Purdue will take on the Gamecocks in its annual Hammer Down Cancer game at 7:30 p.m. ET Friday before playing Kansas at 2 p.m. ET Sunday.
