WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Football Writers Association of America announced the Purdue defensive tackle Lorenzo Neal has been named to the watch list for the 2019 Outland Trophy. The award honors the nation's top interior lineman on either side of the ball.
Neal, a native of Houston, Texas, returns for his final season at Purdue coming off a 2018 season that saw him record a career-high 30 tackles in 12 games. He enters his senior year with 63 career stops, including 11.5 for losses and 4.0 sacks. Neal has appeared in 32 career games as a Boilermaker, including 26 starts. He was voted captain by his teammates prior to last season.
The recipient of the 74th Outland Trophy will be announced during ESPN's The Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec. 12, live from the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.
