The John Mackey award announced that Purdue senior tight end Brycen Hopkins has been named to its preseason watch list.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The John Mackey award announced that Purdue senior tight end Brycen Hopkins has been named to its preseason watch list.
 
The Mackey Award is presented annually to the most outstanding collegiate tight end. The award recipient is selected by vote of the John Mackey Award Selection Committee and the recipient will be announced on December 11, 2019 and then presented live on December 12, 2019 at The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show on ESPNU.
 
Hopkins, a native of Nashville, Tennessee, enter his final season with the Boilermakers with 69 career receptions for 1,115 yards and nine touchdowns. As a junior last season, Hopkins had a career-high 34 catches for 583 yards and two touchdowns, while leading all Purdue receivers with a 17.1 yards per catch average.

Former Purdue tight end Tim Stratton was the inaugural Mackey Award winner in 2000.
