The Purdue tennis teams earned a trio of academic honors Friday as senior Silvia Ambrosio, sophomore Maksymilian Raupuk and freshman Andre Suzanne were named Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar Athletes. The honor required student athletes to maintain a grade point average of at least 3.5 during the 2018-19 academic year.

A two-time All-Big Ten honoree for the Boilermaker women, Ambrosio qualified for the 2019 NCAA Individual Tournament and broke the program record for highest individual ranking on two occasions. Climbing as high as the No. 9 ranked player in the country, she secured 14 wins on the season and was Purdue's first individual national qualifier since 1999.

In his second year in the Purdue men's program Raupuk picked up four wins for the Boilermakers, in addition to earning Academic All-Big Ten honors. He also partnered with Matro Julio for several doubles wins throughout the season, including one over Penn State in conference play and two in the Big Ten Tournament. This the second straight season Raupuk earned Scholar-Athlete accolades from the ITA.

Just finishing his freshman year with the Boilermaker men, Suzanne appeared in three events for the Old Gold & Black, including a spring contest against seventh-ranked Baylor, where he appeared in both singles and doubles competition. Following Raupuk, Suzanne becomes the second straight freshman for the Purdue men to earn ITA scholastic honors.
