The Purdue women's basketball team returns to Mackey Arena after a holiday trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands, set to play Miami in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Boilermakers are playing in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge for the 13th time and at home for the first time since 2015. Purdue is 5-2 overall on the season, boasting an early 3-0 record at home, and searching for its third win in event history.

LOOKING BACK
The Boilermakers posted a 1-2 mark at the 2018 Paradise Jam, earning a 70-59 win over Ole Miss in the second of three games, while falling to St. John's and No. 2 UConn. Harris was named to the Reef Division All-Tournament Team, averaging 11.3 points and 8.3 rebounds, while shooting 53.8 percent from the field. McLaughlin scored a career-high 25 points in the tournament opener against St. John's and Oden posted season-high totals of 18 points, five rebounds and six assists against the Rebels.
 
BOARDS LEAD TO BUCKETS
Purdue's five wins have all come when outrebounding their opponent this season, owning a +6.3 advantage on the glass through seven games. The Boilermakers 15.1 offensive rebounds per game have been converted into an average of 14.0 second-chance points.
 
SWITCHING THINGS UP
Head coach Sharon Versyp has been keeping things interesting at the tip this season, starting five different lineups over the first seven games of the season. Five different players have earned their first career start so far, including Diagne who has started the last two games.
 
BOOMING BENCH
After not getting double-figure scoring from the bench in the final seven games of 2017-18 and 21 of the last 22 games of the season, the Boilermaker reserves are averaging 20.1 points per game, including 33-point totals against Ball State and Purdue Fort Wayne
 
CHALLENGING
The Boilermakers have now drawn a ranked opponent in nine of 13 appearances in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge and has been ranked lower or unranked all nine times. Purdue's two wins in the annual event came over Georgia Tech in 2012 and at Pittsburgh in 2016. Thursday marks the first meeting between Purdue and Miami in the conference contest.

The Hurricanes come to Mackey Arena at 6-1, ranked 21st in the nation in the latest AP Poll. Thursday marks the first meeting between Purdue and Miami since Dec. 19, 1991, and the Hurricanes first trip to Mackey Arena since Nov. 25, 1990. The Boilermakers lead the all-time series 3-2, winning both of the previous meetings in Mackey Arena. Miami is led by head coach Katie Meier, who has won 258 games in her 13+ seasons in Coral Gables. The Hurricanes are one of the top 3-point shooting teams in the nation, making 58 so far, good for 18th in the NCAA. Their 122 assists are 10th-most in the NCAA this season, averaging 17.4 per game. Junior transfer Beatrice Mompremier leads Miami in scoring and rebounding, averaging 16.3 points and 12.3 boards per game (17th in the NCAA). Her five double-doubles this season are tied for fourth-most in the nation. Senior post player Emese Hof adds 11.0 points and 8.1 rebounds per game for the Hurricanes, and sophomore Kelsey Marshall is the only other Miami player averaging double figures at 10.3 points per game, and leads the team with 16 3-point makes on the year.
