WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue basketball teams will hold their annual Fan Day on Saturday, Oct. 13, beginning at 2 p.m. ET at Mackey Arena.
The event is open to the public and admission is free. Doors will open at 2 p.m., with the autograph session featuring both the men's and women's teams beginning at 2:15 p.m., lasting approximately one hour. The men will then hold an intrasquad scrimmage, beginning at 3:45 p.m. The teams will be split up into two squads (Black and Gold) and will play at least three, 10-minute scrimmages. Players will likely be switching teams throughout the scrimmage. There will be no video stream available for the scrimmage.
Parking will be free in the F and R lots near Mackey Arena. However, the Purdue half-marathon is held on Saturday morning, so parking spots may be limited.
Fan Day also will be the first opportunity to receive the 2018-19 schedule posters and to meet your favorite Boilermakers face-to-face. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase season tickets, as well as tickets to the men's game vs. Robert Morris on Nov. 23 for just $10, and to the women's game vs. South Carolina on Dec. 16 for just $5.
Children that attend Fan Day will have the opportunity to draw players' headshots for a chance to have their illustration featured on the video board at Kids Club games this season.
This will be the lone opportunity to see the men's team before its exhibition game Nov. 1 against Marian University beginning at 7 p.m. ET at Mackey Arena.
Tickets are available on PurdueSports.com, by calling 800.49SPORT or by visiting the Hayes Family Athletics Ticket Office at Mackey Arena.
Purdue will be led by junior guard Carsen Edwards, a preseason first-team All-American by the same yearbook and one of just three returning All-Americans in college basketball (North Carolina's Luke Maye, Virginia's Kyle Guy). The guard from Atascocita, Texas, won the Jerry West Award last year as the nation's top shooting guard, averaging 18.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game while connecting on 97 3-pointers – the second most in school history.
The Boilermakers also return a young, but talented nucleus that learned from one of the best senior classes in school history a year ago. Seniors Ryan Cline and Grady Eifert are ready for more-prominent roles this season, while sophomores Nojel Eastern and Matt Haarms both had strong offseasons and will improve from their freshman seasons. A strong freshman class and junior transfer Evan Boudreaux will provide added depth and experience.
The Boilermakers went 30-7 a year ago and reached their second straight Sweet 16.
