WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind - No. 15 Purdue finished the non-conference portion of its schedule Sunday with a dominating 3-0 home win over Western Michigan.

The Boilermakers pummelled the Bronco defense with 33 total shots, and set a new team record with 20 shots on goal, while allowing only five attempts on the defensive end.

Sunday's 20 shots on goal eclipsed the previous mark of 17 set on Aug. 25, 2000 against DePaul. Purdue received scores from Parrissa Eyorokon, Sylvia Forbes and Loredana Riverso as they improved to 8-1-1 and dropped the Broncos to 2-4-1.

"I think the team is prepared for Big Ten season, in that we've done everything we could in terms of getting results," said head coach Rob Klatte. "I thought we were good in every aspect of today's game, but we just need to be more decisive with the ball in and around the box."

Riverso set things in motion for the Boilermakers netting her fourth goal of the season off of a well-placed pass from Shauna Stapleton. Riverso, positioned inside the six-yard box, recevied Stapleton's pass from the right side and slid her shot under Western Michigan goalkeeper Julia Francy to give Purdue a 1-0 lead.

The Boilermakers would strike again five minutes later, this time off the foot of Riverso's Canadian counterpart Sylvia Forbes.

Forbes provided an immediate spark as she scored 30 seconds after coming off the bench. The Whitby, Ontario, native gained control of a loose ball inside the six-yard box and deftly touched it through a jumble of Western Michigan defenders into the back of the net.

The goal was Forbes' second in three games and third of the season.

Purdue's defense remained stout throughout all 90 minutes as it denied the Broncos any quality scoring chances with the exception of two set plays midway through in the second half.

Both Western Michigan's shots on goal rolled right to starting goalkeeper Jenny Bradfisch, who combined with Carianne Betts for the team's sixth shutout of the season.

Eyorokon's goal in the 51st minute - and the 20th of her career - put a cap on the Boilermakers' scoring but it didn't mark the end of Purdue's offensive onslaught.

The Boilermakers took 11 shots following Eyorokon's goal, many of which were posted by the team's deep bench. Forbes led the subs with three shots and was followed by Amy Burrell with two.

Katie Seeger's lone shot hit off the crossbar in the 80th minute, and Jill Sarbaugh was denied the 10th goal of her career as her attempts was blocked down by Francy in the 56th minute.

Purdue's 8-1-1 start represents its best in program history through 10 games and the fourth time the Boilermakers will start start Big Ten Conference play with only one loss.

Purdue remains undefeated at 5-0 on its current seven-game homestand and their winning streak stands at a program-best eight games.

The Boilermakers' next contest is against Wisconsin on Friday, Sept. 28 at 5 p.m. The home match will be broadcast live on the Big Ten Network, which can be seen on campus through Boilermaker TV, or off campus via Direct TV.
