Joe Muller was appointed senior associate athletics director in August of 2006. He oversees all facets of external relations, including development, marketing and promotions, and the John Purdue Club.
Prior to coming to Purdue, Muller served as associate athletics director at his alma mater, Oklahoma State, between 2002 and 2006. His duties included all development activities of the athletics department, including ticket operations, marketing and promotions, and the OSU POSSE fund-raising operation.
Under Muller's watch, OSU raised over $90 million to renovate its football stadium. In addition, attendance records for football were set in 2003, 2004 and 2005, and all-sport ticket revenues increased more than 115 percent. The OSU POSSE annual fund swelled to more than double its previous amount. Muller oversaw the production of the Cowboys' first-ever donor handbook and redesign of the athletics department Web site and re-energized the former letterwinner's club. Muller also served as director of athletic marketing and promotions for Oklahoma State from 1985 to 1990.
Between his stints with the Cowboys, Muller was involved in the television industry for more than a decade. Between 1990 and 2002, he served as General Manager of television stations in Wichita Falls and Amarillo, Texas and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He also served as vice president of affiliate relations/network distribution for the Hispanic Television Network and vice president for network distribution/affiliate relations for the Fox Television Network.
A native of Stillwater, Okla., Muller earned a bachelor's degree in Radio-TV-Film in 1981 and a master's degree in mass communications in 1993, both from Oklahoma State.
Joe and his wife, Julie, have three sons: Jaxon, Brandon and Matthew.
