WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Middle blocker Lourdès Myers was selected to attend the U.S. Women's National Team Open Program at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center. The event, taking place in Colorado Springs, Colorado, will occur February 23-25.
It is the second consecutive year Myers has attended the Open Program. The event will be streamed live on BallerTV, which is a subscription service.
In her breakout season, Myers set the Purdue record in the team's 3-1 win vs. No. 16 Penn State, becoming the only Boilermaker to hit .818% in a five-set match in program history, producing and errorless nine kills on 11 attempts. Moreover, the hitting clip was tied as the fourth-highest efficiency by a Boilermaker in any match. In total, the Alliance, Ohio native went errorless on the attack six times in 2023 and hit .500% or better eight times.
Myers averaged a team-leading .333 hitting % last season and ranked second in blocks.
The WNT Open Program is used for consideration for selection to both the U.S. Women's National Team and the U.S. Women's Collegiate National Team. In 2024, members of the U.S. Women's National Team will compete in the following events: Volleyball Nations League, NORCECA Final Six, Pan American Cup and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
More than 45 top volleyball coaches will also be at the Training Center to help run the program and evaluate the athletes. They will join U.S. Women's National Team staff including Head Coach Karch Kiraly, Assistant Coach Tama Miyashiro, Assistant Coach Erin Virtue (head coach at Michigan), Assistant Coach Alfee Reft (head coach at UCLA) and Performance Analyst Rianne Verhoek. U.S. Men's National Team Performance Analyst Nate Ngo will also work at the program.
