The Boilermakers are unbeaten in their last eight games against the Hoosiers and own a 16-4-7 record in the in-state rivalry for the Golden Boot Trophy. Purdue's current streak is the second-longest in the series, which began in 1999 and has been played every year since. The only longer unbeaten stretch by either team was when the Old Gold and Black had a 15-game run from 2000-2011.
Following a six-day break from competition, Purdue takes the Folk Field pitch on Sunday with a 3-9-1 record and a 0-4-1 mark in Big Ten play. The Boilermakers are 3-5-0 at home and are coming off a 2-1 defeat at Wisconsin on Sunday. Purdue has played four top-25 teams, another three are currently ranked and two more, including IU a week ago, have spent time ranked nationally. In total, nine of Purdue's first 13 opponents are or have been in the top-25 for at least one week during the 2023 campaign.

SCOUTING INDIANA
Indiana is 9-1-3 on the season with a 3-1-1 Big Ten record. The Hoosiers are 2-1-1 away from Bloomington, which includes a 2-1 loss at Ohio State on September 28. The two consecutive winless games come after IU won a trio of one-goal games to begin Big Ten play, capped by a 1-0 triumph over No. 18 Northwestern at home.
The Hoosiers are receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches top-25, a week after they were ranked No. 16 nationally.

SERIES HISTORY VS. THE HOOSIERS
Purdue is 16-4-7 all-time against Indiana and 9-2-3 in West Lafayette. The Boilermakers are unbeaten in their last eight games against the Hoosiers, a streak that began in 2015, current-head coach Drew Roff's first season. That was a 2-0 win in Bloomington, and a pair of draws followed, 2-2 in 2016 at home and 1-1 on the road in 2017. Purdue earned a 1-0, double-overtime win in 2018 at Folk Field before a 2-1 road victory in 2019. A goalless draw at home in the 2020-21 campaign set up a 2-0 win in 2021, also at Folk Field. The two teams played to a 2-2 draw in Bloomington a season ago.
On October 16, 2022, Dunaway gave the Boilermakers a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute before the host-Hoosiers scored the next two to take a 2-1 lead in the 38th minute. Fifth-year Sydney Duarte netted the game-tying goal in the 63rd minute to ensure she kept the Golden Boot all five years in the Old Gold and Black. Duarte led the team with three shots and two shots on goal. Recap the matchup at IU here.
The last time the rivalry came to Folk Field was the regular-season finale on a rainy afternoon on October 24, 2021. No. 18-ranked Purdue posted a 2-0 win, thanks to a pair of second-half goals by seniors Ally Mussallem and Sarah Griffith, in the 73rd and 80th minutes. Mussallem and Griffith assisted on each other's goals, and Mathews also earned assists on both scores in the win. A recap from the 2021 victory can be found here.
LAST TIME OUT: COMEBACK FALLS SHORT
Purdue scored a second-half goal but could not complete the comeback in a 2-1 loss at Wisconsin on October 1 in Madison. On a hot and sun-filled afternoon, freshman defender Zoe Cuneio scored her second goal of the season in the 62nd minute after the Badgers found goals in the eighth and 23rd minutes.
The Boilermakers had four shots, three on goal, and Wisconsin registered 12 shots, eight on frame. Dunaway notched two shots, both on goal, to lead the team and Cyr made a season-high-tying six saves. Cuneio's goal was assisted by Roy.
The loss snapped a three-game win streak for Purdue against Wisconsin in UW home games, a streak that dated back to 2019.
