WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Athletics announced it will transition to digital, mobile-only ticketing beginning in the fall of 2020. On gamedays, fans will now gain entry into each Purdue Athletics venue by utilizing digital tickets from their mobile device, eliminating the need for a printed, physical ticket. The move to digital ticketing provides the safest, easiest and most convenient option for access into all of Purdue's ticketed facilities. Digital ticketing also protects the integrity of tickets, improving protection against fraud, counterfeit and lost tickets while also providing more efficient means to transfer tickets to others. Exceptions will be made for fans who do not have access to a mobile ticketing-friendly device and require a traditional, printed option.
"We are excited about making the shift to digital ticketing, making it easier for our fans to have control of their tickets, as well as providing a contactless entry and in-venue experience for ticketholders," said Mike Bobinski, vice president and director of intercollegiate athletics. "Digital ticketing is becoming widely adopted across the sports and entertainment worlds and with our current emphasis on safe, contactless procedures, we feel this is the right time to make the transition to a completely mobile solution."
With the conversion to digital ticketing, like last year's elimination of the "print at home" option, the purchaser or recipient of the tickets must have a smartphone to access their digital ticket(s). It is critical that the recipients of a digital ticket(s) immediately add them to their smartphone's digital wallet upon receiving the email or text delivery. This allows the ticket holder to quickly access their digital ticket(s) on their mobile device on game day in the event of limited data connections through Wi-Fi or cellular service. It also ensures the ticket holder has their ticket(s) with them wherever they are located.
If ticket holders do not have access to a smartphone for any reason, please contact your Boilermaker Athletics Representative or email sporttix@athletics.purdue.edu, to make other arrangements.
More details, including tutorials and instructions, will be sent throughout the summer. Please look for emails containing information and directions on how to access and use digital tickets. Information can also be accessed quickly and easily on the Purdue Sports app on your smartphone, or by visiting purduesports.com/digitaltickets.
