WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue wrestling will have a pair of opportunities to perform on the big screen in 2020 as head coach Tony Ersland announced two dual matches to be televised by the Big Ten Network. The Boilermakers will host Wisconsin in Holloway Gymnasium at 4 p.m. ET on Sunday, Feb. 2, live on the BTN and then travel to Illinois on Sunday, Feb. 16 for a 1 p.m. CT dual.
"It remains incredible to have the Big Ten Network at our disposal to push out Big Ten wrestling to the world," said Ersland. "Giving out student-athletes the opportunity to compete not only in front of the fans in Holloway, but also the fans across the country who can't make it to West Lafayette is fantastic."
Wisconsin opened 2019-20 ranked No. 6 in the nation in the NWCA Coaches Poll, and has several wrestlers ranked in the top-10 of their respective weight classes. The Badgers' lineup is highlighted by top-ranked, 2018 NCAA Champion Seth Gross at 133 pounds. Purdue has won four of their last six meetings with the Badgers, including at 25-15 win in Madison in the last meeting on Feb. 18, 2018.
The Boilermakers have their sights on ending a seven-match losing streak to the Fighting Illini at their Feb. 16 dual in Huff Hall in Champaign, and doing so on the grand stage. It will be the final dual of the season for the Old Gold & Black before heading to Rutgers for the 2020 Big Ten Championships on March 7. Illinois has a handful of ranked individuals, including No. 11 Travis Piotrowski at 133 pounds and No. 14 Michael Carr at 141.
Purdue continues its non-conference slate Saturday, heading to the Journeymen Duals in Troy, New York, where they'll face Buffalo, Utah Valley and Arizona State.
