WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The No. 23-ranked Purdue men's golf team remains in the Southeast before returning home, battling a loaded field at the Calusa Cup, hosted by Calusa Pines Golf Club in Naples, Florida.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The No. 23-ranked Purdue men's golf team remains in the Southeast before returning home, battling a loaded field at the Calusa Cup, hosted by Calusa Pines Golf Club in Naples, Florida.

Action gets underway Sunday at the difficult Calusa Pines Golf Club as just nine teams descend on one of Golf Digest's top-100 courses in the country. The teams will play 18 holes on three straight days, beginning Sunday and ending Tuesday.

Seven of the nation's top 23 teams will be in the field and Purdue owns a 6-3-0 head-to-head record against the other eight teams in the field (0-1-0 vs. Oklahoma; 0-1-0 vs. Georgia; 0-1-0 vs. Florida; 2-0-0 vs. Iowa; 4-0-0 vs. Marquette).

LAST TIME OUT
After a month hiatus, Purdue returned to action at the Hootie at Bulls Bay, finishing 12th out of 16 teams. Herman Sekne led the Boilermakers with a 7th-place finish at 6-under par 210, and Joe Weiler followed in 11th place at 5-under par 211. However, the Boilermakers had no other finishers place in the top 70, in suffering its worst placing of the season.

    • Has had a counting score in all 18 rounds this season.
    • Has just five double-bogeys or worse in 324 holes.
    • Has a top-20 finish in all six events this season, including five finishes in the top 12.
    • Owns the third-lowest career stroke average in school history (72.93).

    • Owns a 73.20 stroke average and a cumulative 18-over par tally.
    • Has six top-20 performances in 22 career events.

    • Owns a 73.47 stroke average in five events, three coming as an individual.
    • Finished T-22nd at the Marquette Intercollegiate and T-40 at the Hootie at Bulls Bay.

THE COURSE
The Hurdzan/Fry-designed Calusa Pines Golf Club is located in Naples, Florida, and is the site of the Calusa Cup. The scenic course is known for its beautiful vistas and stylistically diverse holes. Consistently ranked one of the top golf courses in Florida, Calusa Pines rewards experienced players who can be dynamic in their style of play and calculate when to take risks. The expansive par-72 course stretches 7,203 yards.
 
CALUSA CUP HISTORY
This marks just the second appearance at the Calusa Cup for the Boilermakers, finishing eighth out of nine teams a year ago. The Boilermakers finished the event with a 38-over par 902 (298-295-309), finishing two shots behind Iowa. Herman Sekne led Purdue at 3-over par 219, while Joe Weiler and Cole Bradley followed at 6-over par 222. The winner shot a 5-under par 211, while the winning team, Oklahoma, was at 5-under par 859.
