GENEVA, Ohio – Championships season begins as the Purdue track & field team competes at the Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio, from February 25-26.
The meet commences on Friday, February 25, beginning with the heptathlon at 11 a.m. ET. Field events start at 11:30 a.m., and the first event on the track is at noon. The day's final event is at 6:50 p.m. On Saturday, February 26, both the heptathlon and field events begin at 11 a.m., while Purdue's opening running event is at 1:40 p.m. The 2022 championships conclude with the final event at 4:35 p.m.

As the Spire Institute hosts the conference championship meet for the ninth time in the last 10 years, 26 men and 23 women will compete for Purdue in 13 men's events and 11 women's events.
Seven Boilermakers return to Geneva after winning medals at last year's championships. Now-fifth-year senior Alexis Zatta is the reigning champion in the high jump, as Purdue has won back-to-back titles in the event. Seniors Camille Christopher and Isaiah Martin, in the 200-meter and heptathlon, respectively, won silver a season ago, while fifth-year senior Tamar Greene won bronze in the triple jump and junior Saran Kouyeth and sophomores K'Ja Talley and Cierra Williams also took third in the 4x400 relay. Greene, Zatta and Christopher's medals came with top-10 marks in program history, at No. 3, No. 6 and No. 7, respectively.
PURDUE'S BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIPS HISTORY
The Purdue women won the Big Ten indoor team championship in 2001 and have placed second five times, most recently in 2018. The men have earned three runner-up finishes, in 1989, 2001 and 2008. The Boilermaker men have won 83 individual Big Ten titles indoors, while the women have claimed 49 individual crowns.
A year ago, the Boilermaker men placed sixth and the women 10th as the team totaled nine medals at the 2021 Big Ten Championships. The men's top-six finish was their third in a row after they placed outside the top nine each of the previous four years (2015-18) and in nine of the previous 13 (2006-18). The Boilermakers totaled 22 top-eight podium finishes and had 13 top-10 marks in school history, including one school record.
IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
Two Boilermakers appear in the week five national TFRI top-25 rankings, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Greene is No. 18 in the triple jump and Martin is No. 23 in the heptathlon.
In the #EventSquad rankings, the men are No. 1 nationally in the triple jump and No. 21 in the 5,000m and long jump. The Purdue women check in at No. 20 in the pole vault.
LAST TIME OUT: ALEX WILSON INVITATIONAL
Eleven personal-best marks were set as Purdue concluded the regular season at the Alex Wilson Invitational on February 19. The 11 personal-bests, along with one season-best time, came as Purdue had 14 total entries.
