Ramos cruised to the final with three decision wins, including a victory in the semifinals over No. 10 Brandon Kaylor of Oregon State (the first top-10 victory of the season for Purdue). It is the third straight tournament the Boilermakers have had a finalist in the 125 division, taking second all three times.
Coleman would get a top-10 win of his own in the semifinals by knocking off Michigan's No. 3 Will Lewan in a 9-5 decision. The redshirt senior's impressive tournament run helped him become the sixth, three-time CKLV medal winner in program history. The team has had seven finalists and 19 placewinners in the last four CKLV Invitationals.
NEWS & NOTES • Purdue owns a 5-1 combined all-time record against it's three opponents. None of the previous matchups came in West Lafayette.
• Head coach Tony Ersland enters his ninth season at Purdue and is 73-56 in dual competition.
• His 73 dual wins is good for fourth most in program history. He is just one shy of tying Scott Hinkel (2008-14) for third most.
• Kendall Coleman, who leads the team with 44 takedowns so far on the year, moved into 16th on the all-time Purdue takedowns list last Sunday with 258. He is just five away from drawing level with Scott Hinkel (1984-87) with 263 and will need just 14 more to crack the top-10.
• Coleman also claims a spot in the top-20 of the career win-percentage list at Purdue (min. 50 matches). Coleman's career .747 percentage would be good for 12th all-time if he were to stop now.

SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
Match 1 Drexel:
The Dragons are 0-3 in dual competition thus far on the season, losing all three to Big Ten opponents (Indiana, No. 19 Rutgers and No. 11 Wisconsin). No. 27 Evan Baczak at 165-pounds and Brian Bonino at 184 are the only two Drexel wrestlers to hold two dual wins. The team was without No. 9 Mickey O'Malley in all three of those outings however and will rely on the former conference champion and three-time NCAA qualifier for points.
Purdue holds a 4-0 record all-time against Drexel. Tuesday will be the first time the pair have faced off in West Lafayette. Ersland's team came away with a 29-18 win in Philadelphia the last time they dualed on Nov. 6, 2021. Match 2 Utah Valley: The early portion of the season for the Wolverines has been dominated by tournament play as the team has entered into six with only one dual under their belts. In the tournament competition, Utah Valley has put 20 wrestlers on a podium with one champion coming at the Cowboy Open. Their one dual came against California Baptist and ended in a 29-9 win for the Wolverines.
This will be the third ever matchup between Purdue and Utah Valley, the two splitting the spoils in their previous meetings. The Boilermakers won 30-12 on Nov. 9, 2019 in their most recent encounter. Match 3 Campbell: The Camels of Campbell come into the Purdue Duals with a 2-4 record, having claimed wins over Little Rock and Buffalo while suffering losses to No. 14 Iowa State, No. 5 Michigan, No. 16 North Carolina and most recently Virginia. They have three ranked wrestlers in No. 28 Gabriel Hixenbaugh, No. 21 Caleb Hopkins and No. 12 Taye Ghadiali who have gone a combined 6-5 in duals this season. Hopkins and Ghadiali are both two-time NCAA qualifiers.
The two programs have never met in dual competition.
HOT START AT CLARION Purdue traveled to the Clarion Open to start its season and Ersland's unit showed no signs of needing to knock off rust. The team came away with six champions, a first-place team finish, seven finalists and twelve placewinners.
Matt Ramos and Parker Filius won their titles outright, while the duos of Dustin Norris and Jacob Macatangay and Kendall Coleman and Nate Camiscioli shared their titles with each other once they reached the finals. Six more Boilermakers made the podium to give head coach Tony Ersland's team 240 team points, good for first place and 41 more than second place.
SIGNED, SEALED, DELIVERED Purdue head coach Tony Ersland inked five new Boilermakers to national letters of intent last week on National Signing Day. He welcomed Joey Blaze, Greyson Clark, Ashton Jackson, Delaney Ruhlman and Cole Solomey to the Boilermaker family to make up what will surely be Ersland's sixth top-25 recruiting class.
Blaze and Clark highlight the class as the No. 17 and No. 33 ranked prospects respectively with five state titles between the two of them. Purdue is one of just nine schools to have at least two top-35 ranked signees. Jackson (No. 196), Ruhlman (No. 174) and Solomey are all Indiana kids who will stay home for their collegiate wrestling careers.
