SPIRIT SQUAD SENIOR DAY 2022

This Saturday is the last home game at Ross-Ade Stadium for the 2022 Purdue Football season. Purdue Cheer will recognize ten seniors for their commitment and impact they have made to the program. Coach Jocelyn Stephens asked the seniors to reflect on their time and experiences in Ross-Ade, reminiscing of their first time they took the field as freshman and all the moments leading to their last game day on the sidelines in Ross-Ade this weekend. Click below for messages written personally by Anika Antony, Abigail Arnold, Joni Blackburn, Tyler Fritish, Payton Keithley, Sydni Henagan, Chicoyah Hunt, Maddie Rigg, Madison Sheldon, and Olivia Snyder. The pictures are from their first 1st season as freshman in Ross-Ade.

These past 4 years being a part of the Purdue all girl cheerleading program have been some of the most rewarding and memorable years of my life so far. I am incredibly grateful to have been a part of a program that has shaped me into the person I am today. I have had the pleasure of being surrounded by the best teammates in the world. The friendships I have made will be cherished forever. A big thank you to past and present coaches for making my dreams come true and to allow me to live out my dreams cheering for the best university! I will always bleed black and gold- Boiler Up!

I’ll never forget the feeling I got from walking out on the field for my first game freshmen year and feeling the same way every game since. The atmosphere in Ross-Ade Stadium gives game day such an electric feeling. I’m beyond grateful to have been a part of the Purdue cheerleading team for the past 4 years and create lifelong memories.

This is not goodbye but more like a see you later to the place that has never failed to give me chills. If I were to tell my freshman self how much I love this stadium, she would never believe me. There’s no feeling in this world like cheering for the Boilers in Ross-Ade. I don’t think I can thank Purdue Cheer enough for being my sanctuary and my family. If I could do this forever, I’d do it in a heartbeat, but here’s to cheering on the Boilers from a new point of view. Boiler Up, Hammer Down.

In high school I never imagined I would experience something quite like cheering at Ross-Ade during a Big Ten football game, or the thrill of rushing the field after a big upset, but I’m so glad that I got to be part of it. It’s a feeling that I’ll miss for years to come and a memory I can’t be more thankful to have!

I am beyond blessed to have spent the last 4 years on the sidelines of Ross-Ade Stadium. Cheerleading has given me the opportunity to meet so many dedicated and passionate fans who create the most electric atmosphere that I’ve ever been a part of. I am ever grateful for the memories that I’ve made at Ross-Ade and hope to make many more as a lifelong cheerleader of Purdue Football. Boiler Up, Hammer Down, Hail Purdue!

I am leaving Ross-Ade with memories that will last a lifetime. I am thankful to Purdue Cheer for offering me this fantastic opportunity. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without this program; it excites me to think about the program’s boundless future. So Boiler Up, Hammer Down, Hail Purdue!

Dear Ross-Ade,
The 5-year-old cheerleader in me is screaming with joy as I never thought I would get so far in my cheerleading career. 4 years ago, when I stepped onto Rohrman field in Ross-Ade Stadium, I was nervous and scared to be in such unknown territory, however, I was excited to tackle the new journey that was college cheer. Now when I step on the field, I am no longer scared, rather I am grateful for the opportunity that allowed me to make my dreams become reality. I will never forget the roaring crowds, bright lights, field rushes, and rain games that us Boilermakers cheered through and that is all thanks to you. Although my journey is coming to an end, I am proud of what I will be leaving behind and I am proud to be a Boilermaker.
Ever Grateful, Ever True

I can still remember what it felt like to step onto Ross-Ade for the first football game my freshman year. I am so appreciative for all the memories that this field has given me… big homecoming wins, rainy games, and even getting to “Shout” on the field with my family. I will be ever grateful and ever to the old gold and black for these four amazing years in Ross-Ade. Boiler up and Hail Purdue.

Ross-Ade, thank you for the last four and a half years. I am going to miss your game day energy, my teammates and coaches. You will always have a special place in my heart. Boiler Up!

What a wild ride. I cannot believe it’s already senior night in Ross-Ade. I can’t put into words all the changes, challenges, and growth not only I, but our team have been through over the past four years. Freshman year me wouldn’t believe where I am today. I am blessed to have such a great support system, so many resources, and an unforgettable experience here at Purdue. Thank you, Ross-Ade, for the many memories created here, but I look forward to creating a few more… See you in 2023 Ross-Ade, I’m coming back for a 5th year ;)
