Purdue Suffers First Loss of the Season

In the Purdue men's tennis team's first road test of the year, the Boilermakers suffered their first loss behind a 2-5 result at Cornell.

ITHACA, N.Y. – In the Purdue men's tennis team's first road test of the year, the Boilermakers suffered their first loss behind a 2-5 result at Cornell.
 
With the result, Purdue's perfect start to the season comes to an end, as they move to a 4-1 record and Cornell improves to 4-2.
 
Freshman Maj Premzl highlighted the day, earning Purdue's lone victory in singles, taking down . Aman Sharma, 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 6 position as he improves to a 5-0 record this spring and an 9-6 record overall during 2024-25. Meanwhile, in doubles he and partner Henrik Villanger defeated Radu Papoe and Rodrigo Fernandes, 6-3. It was the second straight match the Boilermakers were paired together, including their first win.
 
Up next, Purdue returns home for a Friday afternoon Valentine's Day match. The Boilermakers will face Western Michigan at 3 p.m. ET. Admission to the Schwartz Tennis Center is free.
