he Purdue men's tennis team (5-1) continued its best start to the season since 2016 as the squad picked up its fifth win in its first six matches with a 6-1 result vs. Western Michigan.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men's tennis team (5-1) continued its best start to the season since 2016 as the squad picked up its fifth win in its first six matches with a 6-1 result vs. Western Michigan.
 
The Boilermakers took the 1-0 lead thanks to wins by the No. 1 pair of Aleksa Krivokapic and Juan David Velasquez (W, 6-3) and No. 3's Henrik Villanger and Maj Premzl (W, 6-3).
 
Premzl continued his freshman season tear as he remain perfect in singles play in 2025 at 6-0. The Boilermaker produced a 6-1, 6-3 victory at the No. 5 singles position to give Purdue the 2-0 lead.
 
Purdue maintained a steady advantage, picking up six wins before coming down to the final match at position No. 1 between Aleksa Krivokapic and Western Michigan's Anton Arzhankin. The two went point-for-point, with the two needing a Set 1 tiebreaker and a supertiebreaker to decide a victor. Ultimately, Krivokapic fell 7-6 (8), 3-6, 0-1 (4-10).
 
The men will return to action in one week vs. Boisie State. The match, set for Friday, February 21 will begin at 5 p.m. ET.
