WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men's tennis team travels to the west coast to open Big Ten play at No. 33 USC (6-4) and at No. 62 UCLA (2-6). The Boilermakers take on No. 33 USC on Saturday, March 8 at 4 p.m. ET followed by a showdown at No. 62 UCLA on Sunday, March 9 at 2 p.m. ET.

TEAM HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Boilermakers wrapped up non-conference play in a 6-1 victory against Butler on Saturday. They improve to 8-1 in the season, marking the team's best start since 2016 and just the fifth time in program history the men have started the season as strongly.
  • During non-conference play, doubles play was dominated by the Boilermakers. In all nine duals, Purdue won the doubles point and suffered just one court loss during this time.
  • Freshman Maj Premzl and sophomore Henrik Villanger have won five straight doubles matches and are undefeated in the pairing this season.
STEFAN SIMEUNOVIC
  • The sophomore defeated Butlers Nicolas Arts, 6-1, 6-2, to win his fourth straight match and improve his season record to 6-3.
JUAN DAVID VELASQUEZ
  • Velasquez earned his first collegiate victory at the No. 1 spot, defeating Patrick Joss, 6-2, 6-3. With the win, he recorded his 25th career singles win, and the 11th this academic year.
SCOUTING USC
  • USC opened its season against 4 opponents ranked within the ITA top 25, going 1-3 in those matches.
  • The Trojans have two ranked singles players, No. 28 Peter Makk and No. 112 Nathan Trouve.
  • This will be just the second meeting between Purdue and USC, with USC winning 6-1 against the Boilermakers on March 16, 2000.
SCOUTING UCLA
  • UCLA have four ranked singles players, and have No. 21 Aardash Tripathi and Alexander Hoogmartens ranked in doubles.
  • Bruins pair of Alexander Hoogmartens and Giacomo Revelli were crowned the winners of the 136th Annual Pacific Coast Doubles Championship on March 2.
  • This will be the first meeting between two teams in program history.
