WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men's basketball team will officially start its quest to the 2025 Final Four on Monday, when it holds the first of 30 preseason practices in advance of its season opener on Monday, Nov. 4, against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
 
Head coach Matt Painter welcomes back three starters and seven regulars from a squad that reached last year's National Championship game, won the Big Ten regular-season title by three games and won a school-record 34 games.

PRESEASON NOTEBOOK
• With three starters back, Purdue must overcome the loss of two of its top three-leading scorers from a year ago (Zach Edey, Lance Jones), returning just over 46 percent of its scoring from last year.
• In 2024-25, Purdue will return 117 of a possible 195 starts from the 2022-24 season, marking the 11th time in 20 seasons that Painter returns at least 60 percent of starts from the previous season.
• In eight previous years that Purdue returns at least 110 starts from the previous season, the Boilermakers have posted a 228-61 (.789) combined record, reaching the Sweet 16 (and beyond) six times.
• Entering the postseason, Purdue's 17 straight home wins are tied for the sixth-longest streak in the country.
• Purdue enters the season having won 35 consecutive regular-season, non-conference games.
• Purdue became the first Big Ten team in league history with three straight undefeated non-conference regular seasons.
• Purdue has won 35 straight non-conference, regular-season games, the ninth-longest streak in NCAA history. Purdue joined Syracuse (2009, 2010, 2011) and Duke (1992, 1993, 1994) as the only schools over the last 50 years to go unbeaten in non-conference play for three straight years.
• Purdue needs two wins to move into a spot in the top five.
• Purdue enters the 2024-25 season having won 35 straight non-conference, regular-season games, the longest streak in the country. The streak will span 1,428 days entering next season (Nov. 4, 2024), last losing on Dec. 8, 2020, vs. Miami, Fla.

• The Boilermakers have won 26 straight non-conference games in Mackey Arena, dating to a loss on Nov. 9, 2019, vs. Texas.
• Purdue needs one wins to tie the school record of consecutive non-conference home games entering next season.
• Since the start of the 2015-16 season, Purdue is 56-2 in Mackey Arena against non-conference opposition (Villanova - Nov. 13, 2016; Texas - Nov. 9, 2019).

• The senior class of Caleb Furst needs just 18 victories to set the school record for most wins by a senior class -- set by last year's senior class (110)

• Purdue is 20-6 against top-25 teams since the start of the 2021-22 season, the best record for any team that has played at least 10 games against nationally-ranked teams in that span.
• Purdue owns a 10-2 record against top-10 teams since the start of the 2021-22 season, the best mark in the country (min. 5 games).
• Purdue is one of five teams to rank in the nation's top 50 in offensive efficiency in each of the last nine years.
• Over the last 10 seasons (including the 2024-25 campaign), Purdue (125-48) owns the Big Ten's best record by a whopping 15 games over Michigan State (110-63).
• Perhaps even more impressive is over the last two full seasons, Purdue is 32-8 overall, a full seven games better than Illinois (25-15).
• After the 2016 season, Indiana had tied Purdue for the most Big Ten titles in conference history when it won its 22nd Big Ten title. Since then, Purdue has won four Big Ten titles in the last eight years (2017, 2019, 2023, 2024) to stake claim to 26 Big Ten Championships.
