Simeunovic Named Second-Team All-Big Ten Selection

Purdue men's tennis freshman Stefan Simeunovic has been named Second-Team All-Big Ten selection.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.- Purdue men's tennis freshman Stefan Simeunovic has been named Second-Team All-Big Ten selection.

The Oakville, Ontario, native is the second Boilermaker to be named to a Big Ten All-Conference team since 2019 when Athell Bennett earned three consecutive All-Conference Honors.

Simeunovic made an instant impact playing almost his entire rookie campaign at the Boilermaker's No. 1 spot in singles play. He burst onto the scene with a 7-3 record in the fall slate with six of his victories coming in straight sets.

In the spring schedule, Simeunovic tallied nine wins in dual action and a trio in conference play. He spent the entirety of Big Ten action at singles No. 1 with his best win coming against then-No. 41 Ronald Hohmann on the road against a Top-20 ranked Michigan State team.

Following his first career Big Ten and ranked win over Hohmann, Simeunovic won three of his next four matches including a straight-set victory over Nebraska's Calvin Mueller. Mueller was unranked at the time but finished the regular season at No. 80 in the ITA Rankings.

Simeunovic is the 15th Boilermaker to earn an All-Conference Honor and one of only two freshmen to be recognized this season.

Henrik Villanger was tabbed the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award recipient.
