Last season, the Boilermakers returned to UCA College Nationals for the first time since 2020. The squad competed in two divisions: All Girl Game Day and Small Coed Traditional Routine. Small Coed finished in 4th Place at the 2023 Championship.

This year the program is excited to bring two traditional routines for the first time in program history. 2024 will mark an inaugural year for our All Girl team competing in All Girl Division 1A. Our Coed team has competed at a Varsity Spirit championship since 1994 and in the Small Coed division since 2013, winning the title in 2018. See competition history here

What is a traditional routine?
Both the All Girl and Small Coed routines are 2 minutes and 30 seconds in length. They begin with a 45 second cheer to get the crowd involved and then into a 1 minute and 45 second music portion that includes stunts, tumbling, and baskets. In both divisions (All Girl and Small Coed) you can compete with 20 athletes on the floor. All Girl is 20 female athletes and Small Coed is limited to 5 male athletes and 15 female athletes.

Purdue All Girl will compete against 18 teams including Indiana, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Ole Miss. Purdue Small Coed has 15 teams in their division including Minnesota, Penn State, Florida State, and Syracuse. The top 50% of teams in each division will qualify for the final round of competition.

"Since the plane ride back to West Lafayette from the 2023 Championship we have been driven to raise the bar in competition. I told them training for 2024 starts now. And they went to work. I asked a lot from the returners last spring to ensure the core of our program set the standard for the goals we had in sight. We graduated 8 seniors in spring 2023 and added 19 first years (13 true freshman) over the summer. The focus and commitment from this group has been a joy to be a part of. They have trained hard and have had a lot of fun together this season. I am so excited for this group to hit their routines and represent Purdue at college nationals." – Jocelyn Stephens
