NASHVILLE, Tenn. - After picking up four wins yesterday, the Boilers laid claim to another five wins across singles and doubles play on day two of the June Stewart Invitational.
The morning started with the duo of Juana Larranaga/Calissa Dellabarca defeating Louisville's Ibifuro Clement/Lika Peresykpina 6-3. Larranag/Dellabarca have now started the fall 2-0 after yesterday's thrilling tiebreak victory over Ole Miss's Rachel Krzyak/Andrea Nova.
Despite winning just one doubles match, the Boilermakers tallied four singles victories. Three Boilers (Csilla Fodor, Carmen Gallardo Guevera and Kennedy Gibbs) took down the competition in straight sets while Larranaga found a way to grind out a win with a 10-7 victory in the super tiebreak.
Gibbs and Guevera remain undefeated as solo acts while Fodor and Larranaga picked up their first singles wins of the fall.
With nine total wins across the first two days, the Boilers look to close out the June Stewart Invitational tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 24 with singles versus Louisville and doubles against host Vanderbilt. Singles will begin at 9 a.m. CT.
