BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - Juana Larranaga hit a new milestone as she picked her career-high 10th fall win while the Boilermakers racked up eight total wins Saturday.
Day two of the Bonita Bay Classic opened with Purdue sweeping through doubles. The team rolled through their opponents from the host school, Florida Gulf Coast, with Ashlie Wilson seeing her first action of the fall season. She and Larranaga popped off a 6-3 decision and Wilson remains a perfect 2-0 in career doubles contests.
Of the six Boilers that played a singles match, five came away with a win. Csilla Fodor, Carmen Gallardo Guevara, Kennedy Gibbs, Antonia Pareja and Larranaga all blew the roof off the cabana with straight set wins over the Eagles.
Larranaga's victory was the highlight of the day's contests as she set a career-best in fall win total at 10. She's won 10 of her last 11 matches and heads into the final day of competition looking for one last win to close out the fall slate.
Gibbs, Guevara and Larranaga have all eclipsed 10 wins in the fall slate, making it the second time in three years that two or more players have had 10+ wins (2021, Fodor/Guevara).
Gibbs has won three in a row with Saturday's victory over Isabella Colmenares and looks to end her second fall season having doubled her previous win total of four. Guevara is atop the leaderboard in team wins as her victory over Jordana Ossa ties her career fall win total at 11. She is an impressive 11-1 with her only loss coming to No. 17 Elza Tomase at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional.
Pareja was the fifth Boilermaker to lock down a win on Saturday. She defeated Lola Glantz 6-3, 6-1 for her fourth win of the fall season. All four of Pareja's wins have come in straight sets, the only Boiler to boast that honor in 2023.
Purdue closes out the Bonita Bay Classic tomorrow, Sunday, Nov. 5 against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish beginning at 9 a.m. EST.
