LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Home runs from Paul Toetz and Sam Franco plus a four-hit day for Cam Thompson highlighted Purdue baseball's 14-inning fall ball exhibition Sunday at Louisville.

The Boilermakers and Cardinals played a pair of seven-inning games with the focus being on live-game reps instead of the score.

Toetz connected for an opposite-field blast to right center in the fourth inning of game one. Franco barreled up for a two-run shot to left center in the second inning of the nightcap. Toetz finished the day with three hits and Franco had three RBI.

Thompson ripped a pair of extra-base hits with two knocks in both games. He drove in the first run of the day with a two-out RBI single in the first inning of game one and later scored twice in the nightcap. His all-fields approach produced a double down the left field line and a triple into the right-center gap.

Khal Stephen, Malcolm Gilchrist, Griffin Lohman and Avery Cook all worked a scoreless inning on the mound for the Boilermakers, including 1-2-3 frames for Stephen and Cook in the nightcap.

Camden Melvin and Weston Gingerich each connected for a double in their lone at-bats of the day. Melvin scored on an RBI single by Connor Caskenette.

The Boilermakers continue fall ball practice through Oct. 22. Next up is an exhibition game vs. Dayton, slated for Saturday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. It is also expected to feature more than nine innings of action. The game is open to the public at Alexander Field.
