STANFORD, Calif. – On moving day at the NCAA Stanford Regional (May 10), Purdue Women's Golf stayed put on the leaderboard. The Boilermakers entered the second round in fourth place, and Tuesday's total of 291 (+7) kept them right on the cut line for the NCAA Championships with 18 holes left in the regional.
The top four teams following Wednesday's final round earn a berth in the national championship tournament. After 36 holes, Purdue is tied with Northwestern for the fourth and final spot at 8-over. The two Big Ten schools built a five-shot cushion over sixth-place Iowa State. USC (-12), host Stanford (-8) and LSU (-5) find themselves in prime position to advance to Scottsdale, Arizona.
Kan Bunnabodee fired a 2-under 69 to lead the Boilermakers in the second round. The First Team All-B1G golfer moved to even par for the tournament and into a tie for 10th on the individual leaderboard. After three pars to start the morning, Bunnabodee birdied three of the next four holes. She remained steady throughout the remainder of the day, grinding out 11 straight pars to secure a round in the 60s. It was the third time this season that Bunnabodee broke 70, a team best.
Danielle du Toit and Inez Wanamarta shot 73 (+2) as both Boilermakers stayed in the top 25 heading into the final round. They began their respective rounds with a birdie on the par-5 first, while tallying two birdies apiece on Tuesday. Du Toit's other birdie came at the par-3 17th, while Wanamarta dropped a bomb for birdie on No. 5.
Sifat Sagoo and Ashley Kozlowski rounded out the Purdue scoring with rounds of 76 (+5). After carding a season-low 69 (-2) thanks to six birdies in round one, Sagoo mustered two birdies during her second round on the par-71 course. She continued to excel on the par 3s, playing the short holes 3-under through two rounds to lead the field.
With the Boilermakers and Wildcats tied for the final qualifying spot, the two teams are paired together for Wednesday's final round alongside Iowa State. The three programs tee off beginning at 8 a.m. PT (11 a.m. ET).
