Outdoor Season Continues with Meets in Texas and Illinois

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – A pair of meets in Texas and Illinois are on tap for the Purdue track & field team this weekend as the Boilermakers compete at the Texas A&M Team Invitational in College Station, Texas, from April 8-9, and the Illini Classic in Champaign, Illinois, on April 9.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – A pair of meets in Texas and Illinois are on tap for the Purdue track & field team this weekend as the Boilermakers compete at the Texas A&M Team Invitational in College Station, Texas, from April 8-9, and the Illini Classic in Champaign, Illinois, on April 9.
 
The Texas A&M Team Invitational at E.B. Cushing Stadium commences on Friday, April 8, with the decathlon at 1:30 p.m. ET, field events at 3 p.m. ET and running events at 9 p.m. ET. The day is expected to conclude at 10:20 p.m. ET. On Saturday, April 9, the decathlon again begins the day, at 11:15 a.m. ET, with field events set to start at 4 p.m. ET and running events at 7:30 p.m. ET. The meet concludes at approximately 10:30 p.m. ET.
 
At the Illini Classic on Saturday, field events begin at 11 a.m. ET and the first running event is at 2 p.m. ET. The meet at Demirjian Park concludes at approximately 7 p.m. ET.
 
Fans can follow along from Texas A&M with live results and the meet schedule, while ESPN+ will have a live stream (Friday, 8 p.m. | Saturday, 6:30 p.m.) From Illinois, fans can track live results, follow the meet schedule and watch the live stream. Sixteen women and 14 men will compete in Texas, while 19 men and 14 women will represent the Boilermakers in Illinois.
 
IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
Six Boilermakers appear in the second national TFRI top-25 rankings, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Sophomore Safin Wills is No. 8 in the triple jump, senior Kelly Cook Jr. is No. 17 in the hammer throw, sophomore K'Ja Talley is No. 20 in the 400m hurdles, senior Antonio Mitchell is No. 22 in the 100m and both the men's and women's 4x100 relay squads are No. 24 nationally.
 
In the #EventSquad rankings, the Boilermaker men are No. 9 in the long jump, No. 24 in the 200m and No. 25 in the 100m, while the women are No. 13 in the 100m and No. 16 in the 200m.
 
LAST TIME OUT: WEEKEND IN FLORIDA AND OHIO
Purdue earned one top-10 time in team history and three second-place finishes at a pair of meets last weekend, at the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Florida, and the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational in Cincinnati from April 1-2. On Friday to open the Florida Relays, sophomore Jabari Bryant ran the seventh-fastest 400 meter hurdles time in school history. Mitchell II and freshman Praise Aniamaka notched the Boilermakers' second-place finishes in Gainesville and freshman Zamen Siyoum earned the honor in Cincinnati.

NEXT UP: OFF TO KENTUCKY
The Boilermakers make the short trip to Louisville, Kentucky, for the Louisville Invitational next weekend. The meet is set for April 15-16.
