WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue baseball's unbeaten and program-record 12-0 start has earned the team a spot in the national rankings as the Boilermakers debuted at No. 21 in Collegiate Baseball's weekly poll.

Collegiate Baseball's weekly top-30 rankings date back to 1959 as the oldest college baseball poll in the country. Big League Chew bubble gum serves as poll's current sponsor.

Purdue capped its third straight 4-0 week Sunday with Cam Thompson's 11th-inning walk-off home run. The Boilermakers are one of five unbeaten teams remaining at the NCAA Division I level entering the week, joining Clemson, Virginia, Wake Forest and Tennessee Tech. Of those five, Purdue is the only one yet to play a true home game.

The Boilermakers have won 13 straight games dating back to the 2021 season finale. Only Wake Forest (14) has a longer active streak nationally. Purdue's longest multi-season win streak is 16 from May 1908 and through May 1909. The 1909 Big Ten championship team's 10-0 start had stood as the best start in program history for more than 100 years.

Purdue's 2001, 2012 and 2018 teams also played their way into the national rankings en route to finishing with at least 32 victories. The 2001 and 2018 squads both won 13 consecutive games, matching the 1993 team for the longest single-season win streaks in team history. It's a mark the current Boilermakers can match in this week's home opener at Alexander Field. The 2012 Big Ten championship team posted a pair of 10-game win streaks, the only one to have multiple double-figure surges in the same season.

Baseball is the eighth program within Purdue Athletics to earn a spot in the national rankings this season, joining football, men's basketball, volleyball, soccer, men's golf, men's swimming & diving and wrestling.

The Boilermakers are slated to host their earliest home opener ever this week. The series opener with Bellarmine has been moved to Thursday, March 10 at 4 p.m. in an effort to maximize favorable weather conditions. The rest of the series schedule is TBD until after Thursday's game.
