The matchup at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium concluded a three-game roadtrip for the Boilermakers, and the defeat snapped a two-game unbeaten streak.

Both of Minnesota's goals came in the first half, in the eighth and 23rd minutes.

Freshman forward Kayla Budish quickly followed with a shot that was just wide to nearly tie the game up less than a minute later.

Sophomore midfielder Abigail Roy then had a great chance in the 79th minute, as she sent a long strike from 25 yards out that was just tipped out by a leaping Gopher goalkeeper. That almost made it 2-1, but it proved to be the final opportunity for the visiting side in the contest.
