INDIANAPOLIS – Andrew Farraye and Joe Weiler have earned a spot in the final qualifying round for the 122nd United States Open Championship after advancing out of local qualifying on Thursday at Old Oakland Golf Club in Indianapolis.

Farraye and Weiler earned two of the five advancing spots out of 84 players, finishing tied for fourth at 3-under par 69, two shots behind David Erdy and Jiri Zuska, who earned medalist honors with matching scores of 5-under par 67.

The Purdue duo will now compete in final qualifying at a site to be determined in early June.

The 122nd U.S. Open will take place at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, from June 16 to 19. Weiler and Farraye join incoming freshman Benjamin Cai and 2018 grad Brian Carlson as Boilermakers that have advanced to final qualifying, looking to punch their tickets to the U.S. Open. In recent years, former Boilermakers Tyler Duncan (2015, 2018, 2020), Shiv Kapur (2014, 2015) and Fernando Barco (2021) have all competed in America's National Championship.

Weiler and Farraye are part of a strong Boilermaker squad that have helped Purdue to a spot in the NCAA Palm Beach Gardens Regional and among the nation's top-25 teams all season long. Purdue earned a No. 5 seed in the upcoming regional – its highest seed in school history.
