As coach Drew Roff enters his seventh season at the helm, the Boilermakers return to the pitch after going 4-6-2 in a Big Ten-only 2020 season, contested in the spring of 2021. Then-junior forward Sarah Griffith and junior midfielder Grace Walsh were recognized on the All-Big Ten Team, Purdue's first honorees since 2017 and the third and fourth since 2010. Twenty-two Boilermakers were named to the Academic All-Big Ten Team.

Griffith and Walsh both return in 2021 and are two of 10 seniors on the roster. The 30-player squad features 22 returners and eight newcomers, while 10 of Purdue's 11 starters from the 2020 campaign are back.

Milwaukee is coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance and Horizon League tournament title last season. The Panthers posted a 9-2-1 record during the 2021 spring slate, which included a first-round win over Elon in the NCAA Tournament.

TEAM CAPTAINS ANNOUNCED
Following the first week of preseason training, Roff announced that the team's captains are Griffith, senior goalkeeper Marisa Bova and senior defenders Teagan Jones and Maya Lambert. Griffith and Lambert served as captains in 2020-21, while Bova and Jones are first-time captains.
