Softball Signs Transfer Gabby Sprang

Head coach Boo De Oliveira adds lefty Gabby Sprang to the pitching staff.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue softball is excited to welcome transfer Gabby Sprang to West Lafayette for the 2021-22 academic year. Sprang is a pitcher transferring from Oklahoma State and will be eligible to play immediately as a redshirt junior.

"We are excited for Gabby to join the Purdue softball family," said head coach Boo De Oliveira. "She is a lefty pitcher with good movement and has competed for two postseason programs. Gabby knows what it takes to win and we look forward to adding not only her talent, but her leadership to our program."

Sprang made 14 appearances with five starts in the 2019 season at Oklahoma State as a sophomore. Over 31.1 innings of work, the Rosemount, Minnesota native posted a 3.57 ERA while striking out 15 batters. In addition to helping Oklahoma State to a pair of wins over Northern Iowa and Wichita State, the 6-1 lefty pitched a career-high 5.1 innings vs. Illinois.

While spending two seasons in Stillwater, Sprang did not compete in 2020. Prior to Oklahoma State, she spent her 2018 freshman year at Tennessee, where she recorded a 3.40 ERA over 35.0 innings. As a recruit out of Rosemount High School, Sprang earned two Premier Girls Fastpitch All-America honors and ranked No. 3 in FloSoftball's 2017 Hot 100 Rankings.
