INDIANAPOLIS – A dozen event victories and 13 Boilermakers that finished among the top five in multiple individual events highlighted the return of the four-day Indiana Senior State Long Course Championships, hosted by the Pike Township Swim Club and Pike High School Aquatic Center the weekend of July 15-18.

Many of Purdue's returning student-athletes competed for Boilermaker Aquatics, helping the club finish second in the combined (men and women) team scoring with 1,468 points. Abby Harter (100m back), Abby Jahns (200m fly), Kate Beavon (1500m free), Coleman Modglin (200m breast) and Ethan Shaw (200m fly) were the individual event winners for Boilermaker Aquatics. Incoming freshman Teagen Moon also won the 100-meter butterfly for her Fort Wayne Swim Team club.

Competing for the Fishers Area Swimming Tigers, rising sophomore Aaron Frollo was the top scorer at the meet with 117 points in the individual events. He did it by demonstrating his versatility, fitness and stamina – finishing among the top six in six individual events, all at least 200 meters in length. Frollo also swam in all five relays. In the 11 events, he logged 5,200 meters of live racing action over the four days. That's equivalent to swimming 3.23 miles. He claimed silver in the 800m and 1500m free.

Boilermaker Aquatics also won six relays, including a men's and women's sweep of the medleys. The men were also victorious in the 200m and 400m freestyle relays. Andrew Alders and Michael Juengel were both part of three relay winners as nine Purdue swimmers contributed to multiple victories in the relays.

Brett Riley, Beavon and Frollo all accounted for at least three top-five finishes to headline the list of 13 Boilermakers to account for multiple top-five showings in individual events. Riley also demonstrated his versatility as the runner-up in the 200 breaststroke and 400 IM to go along with a fourth-place finish in the 200 IM. Beavon was top five in all three distance events. Harter and Jahns were both victorious in one event and silver medalists in another.

Lindsay Turner joined Frollo and Riley with a pair of silvers, helping the women go 1-2-3 in both butterfly events. Boilermaker Aquatics also scored 1-2 finishes in the men's 200 breast and 200 fly as well as the women's 1,500 free.

Many Purdue student-athletes at the pool train throughout the summer. However, the Indiana Senior State meet was not held in July of last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
