CHANDLER, Ariz. – Women's golf will head into Friday's final 18 holes at the Let Them Play Classic in a tie for second with Houston in the team standings. The Boilermakers sit a combined 36-hole 3-under par 429 after carding an opening-round 6-under 210 and 3-over 219 on the second 18 Thursday. Purdue is within striking distance of tournament leader North Texas, falling merely seven strokes behind after Thursday.
Due to all 10 schools being unable to send a full contingent of players to the event, the team scoring has been modified to include only the three lowest individual scores for the combined tally.
Individually, Junior Danielle du Toit is alone in fourth after posting a 36-hole score of 3-under 141. Du Toit opened the LTP Classic with a 1-over 73, but rallied to finish with a 4-under 68 in the afternoon to climb up ten spots between the two rounds. She had six birdies against two bogeys in the second round. Du Toit is five strokes behind tournament leader Ariana Sanez (65+71=136) of Houston on the player leaderboard.
Du Toit's teammate, sophomore Kan Bunnabodee, fired an opening-round 5-under 67 to tie her collegiate career low round, but struggled a bit over the final nine holes to wrap up the day with a two-round total 1-under 143 (67+76). She is tied for seventh after Thursday.
Sophomore Sifat Sagoo rounded out the scoring for the Boilers with a 36-hole mark of 1-over 145 (70+75).
