Baseball Adds 4th Game to Minnesota Series

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – In a continued effort to replace the games from the Northwestern series that were not played at Alexander Field earlier this month, Purdue baseball has added a fourth game to its series this week at Minnesota.

The four-game set will now begin Thursday at 7 p.m. ET. All games are expected to be streamed live on BTN+.

UPDATED SERIES SCHEDULE
Thursday at 7 p.m. ET
Friday at 7 p.m. ET
Saturday at 3 p.m. ET
Sunday at 2 p.m. ET

The Boilermakers and Golden Gophers were both idle the weekend of May 7 to 9 due to health and safety concerns related to pauses in team activities. Purdue was scheduled to host Northwestern and Minnesota was scheduled to host Ohio State. Northwestern and Minnesota were unable to play.

Because of the distance between Minneapolis and Columbus, the Minnesota-Ohio State series was unlikely to be rescheduled. That allowed Purdue and Ohio State to play an extra game May 11 at Alexander Field. It's also why Purdue and Minnesota have opted to add a game to their series this week in the Twin Cities.

The Boilermakers are still willing to host Northwestern for a midweek game on Tuesday of next week. Alexander Field is hosting a three-team pod from Thursday to Sunday of next weekend to conclude the season. Penn State and Minnesota are both making the trip to West Lafayette next weekend.

Purdue and Minnesota are now scheduled to play six times over a span of 11 days this season. Dating back to 2015, the two programs have only played nine times, highlighted by the last meeting – the championship game of the 2018 Big Ten Tournament in Omaha.

As part of the conference-only schedule, the Boilermakers have also played at least four games against five Big Ten rivals this year – Illinois (5), Michigan (4), Michigan State (4), Nebraska (4) and Ohio State (4). Penn State (4) and Minnesota (6) join that list over the next two weeks.
