Nearly a year to the day, the Purdue men's tennis team will make its competitive return to the Schwartz Tennis Center this weekend for a pair of matches. The Boilermakers will host Michigan State on Saturday, before facing No. 14 Michigan on Sunday.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Nearly a year to the day, the Purdue men's tennis team will make its competitive return to the Schwartz Tennis Center this weekend for a pair of matches. The Boilermakers will host Michigan State on Saturday, before facing No. 14 Michigan on Sunday.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no fan, family or friend admittance to the Schwartz Tennis Center all season. All home matches will be streamed through PlaySight and livestats will be provided on PurdueStats.com.

LAST TIME OUT
The Boilermakers split their season opening weekend on the road. Purdue rallied to beat Nebraska 4-3 with a match-clinching point from Michal Wozniak in a third set tiebreaker at No. 3. On Sunday the Boilermakers could not find their rhythm in a 4-0 loss to Iowa.

BOILER NOTES
• Dating back to 1914, the first season of Purdue men's tennis, the Boilermakers are 72-34-1 in home openers, including all 11 under head coach Pawel Gajdzik. 
• Purdue will look for its first ranked win since April 7, 2018, against No. 46 Wisconsin. 
• Mateo Julio, Sebastian Welch and Milledge Cossu were the lone Boilermakers to post perfect 1-0 marks last weekend. All three had their Sunday singles contests go unfinished.
• Cossu earned the win in his first collegiate singles match over three sets at No. 6 last weekend against Nebraska.
• Julio improved his winning streak at No. 1 singles to four matches, dating back to 2019.
• After his freshman campaign was cut short last year, Welch picked up his first career win in the Big Ten against Nebraska at No. 2 singles.
• The Boilermakers have won three of the last four meetings against Michigan State to cut into the Spartans' 46-31 all-time series lead.
• The Spartans are 1-3 on the year, with their lone win coming against Minnesota, marking the only match Michigan State was not shutout.
• Sunday is the 86th meeting between Purdue and Michigan. The Wolverines lead the series 75-10 dating back to 1936. Purdue's last win against Michigan was back in 2004.
• Michigan bounced back from a season-opening loss to No. 15 Baylor, the Wolverines won back-to-back matches against Wisconsin and Minnesota last weekend.
