WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Returning to Mackey Arena to open its final homestand of the 2021 regular season, the Purdue women's basketball team is set to face No. 8 Maryland on Thursday afternoon at 6 p.m. The game will be streamed on Big Ten Network+.

Thursday is Purdue's annual Beat Cancer Pinkout, sponsored by the Purdue Center for Cancer Research. For the 14th consecutive season, the Boilermakers will don special pink Nike uniforms to raise awareness for breast cancer research and support cancer patients and their families. Purdue is 11-3 in pinkout games. Fans can donate to the Purdue Center for Cancer Research.

The Boilermakers dropped a heartbreaker at Michigan State on a last second 3-pointer, falling 76-73. Purdue rallied from 11 points down in the first half to take a nine-point lead in the fourth. Kayana Traylor and Brooke Moore combined for 48 points, including five 3-pointers.

• Maryland leads the all-time series against Purdue 13-2.
• Madison Layden's year is shaping up to be one of the best all-around campaigns in recent memory. The Kokomo native is one of three rookies from the Big Ten over the last six years with at least 55 assists, 45 steals and 35 3-pointers - Destiny Slocum (Maryland 16-17), Veronica Burton (Northwestern 18-19).
• Kayana Traylor went off against Michigan State with a career-high 31 points on 10-of-20 shooting, including a career-high four 3-pointers. The 30-point game was Purdue's fifth in the last six seasons and the 47th in program history.
• Cassidy Hardin accomplished a rare feat at Michigan State. She recorded just her 10th 2-point basket of her career, compared to 73 3-pointers.
• Fatou Diagne's career production continues to rocket up, averaging 5.3 points and 3.8 rebounds more per game as a senior versus her junior year.
• Brooke Moore dropped her 10th 10-point game of the year. The junior has picked up her pace recently, averaging 13.3 points over the last eight.
• Things have looked up over the last two outings, though, Purdue has scored 75 points in back-to-back games for the first time since December, including the second-most points of the year at Ohio State.
• The Boilermakers will go for their first ranked win since Jan. 2019. Purdue's last top-10 win came against Maryland on Feb. 15, 2018.
• Defensively, Purdue has held 13 opponents below their season scoring averages this season.
