WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The No. 15 Purdue wrestling team is set to face some of the nation's best this weekend, heading to the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, hosted at the Las Vegas Convention Center on Friday and Saturday, December 3-4. The two-day tournament is scheduled to include 12 of the top-25 tournament teams in InterMat's latest polls, and as many as 122 nationally ranked individuals in the field.
PURDUE LINEUP & RANKINGS
Purdue climbed to No. 15 in the latest NWCA Coaches' Poll, up two spots from last week, and cracked the top-25 in InterMat's national tournament rankings as Devin Schroder moved into the top-eight at 125 pounds, Kendall Coleman and Thomas Penola at in the top-12 at 157 and 197, respectively, and seven total Boilermakers hold top-25 marks.
LAST TIME OUT
Purdue improved to 6-0 in dual competition, sweeping a trio of meets at the 2021 Boilermaker Duals. The squad opened with a 42-0 victory over Brown, the Boilermakers' largest win over a Division I opponent since 2012, and their first shutout since 2014. Purdue followed with a 28-15 win over Duke and a 28-10 win over Northern Illinois, taking 7-of-10 in each dual. Devin Schroder was 3-0 with two tech falls and a major decision, while Kendall Coleman had a technical fall and two majors, and Thomas Penola had a tech, a major and a decision.
CKLV HISTORICAL NOTES
• Purdue is making its 15th all-time appearance at the CKLV Invitational, returning to Sin City after last year's tournament cancellation.
• The Boilermakers had their best-ever showing at the event in 2019, placing fifth with a program record 92.5 points as five individuals earned places on the podium.
