WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Week 2 of the Purdue Football Dream Season features a pair mainstays in the Cradle of Quarterbacks. Fans have the opportunity to choose between a 1954 win over No. 1 Notre Dame with Len Dawson under center or a last-minute touchdown in the 1979 Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl by Mark Herrmann.

Several stations on the Purdue Radio Network, including WNDE in Indianapolis and WAZY in Lafayette, will air the "Dream Season" from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturdays. The broadcasts will also be available on the Tunein App.
Here are a few takeaways from each game:
No. 19 PURDUE – 27, No. 1 Notre Dame – 14 | Oct. 2, 1954 | South Bend, Ind.
• Future Pro Football Hall-of-Famer Dawson threw four touchdown passes to lead the Boilermakers to a win over the top-ranked Fighting Irish.
• Dawson connected with John Kerr and Rex Brock on tosses of nine and 41 yards in the first quarter to stake Purdue to an early 14-0 lead.
• The Fighting Irish countered with a safety and a touchdown in the span of 10 seconds in the second quarter, and added a touchdown early in the third quarter to tie the game at 14.
• Dawson rebounded with a 73-yard touchdown strike to Lamar Lundy later in the third quarter and capped off the big day with a 34-yard scoring pass to Bill Murakowski in the fourth.
• The win marked the second time in five seasons that the Boilermakers downed a Notre Dame team ranked first in the nation.
No. 17 PURDUE – 27, Tennessee – 22 | Dec. 31, 1979 | Houston, Texas
• All-America quarterback Mark Herrmann connected on a 17-yard touchdown strike to Dave Young with 1:30 to play to lead the Boilermakers to a New Year's Eve bowl win.
• The win marked the Boilermakers' third consecutive bowl victory in dramatic fashion.
• Herrmann enjoyed another Most Valuable Player performance with a 21-completion, 303-yard evening.
• After watching a 21-0 lead evaporate behind 22 straight points from Tennessee, Purdue marched 80 yards in nine plays to take the lead for good, before the defense stopped the Volunteers at the 28-yard line on fourth down with one second remaining.
• The victory gave the Boilermakers their only 10-win season in school history.
