Purdue Athletics Provides Update on COVID-19 Test Results

Purdue Athletics will continue to provide a weekly update each Friday.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Athletics on Friday (July 24) released COVID-19 test results as of Thursday, July 23.

A total of 415 individual COVID-19 tests have been administered to student-athletes, coaches and staff during the phased return to campus that began Monday, June 8. Within this group, 27 individuals have tested positive over the course of the past six weeks. 

Below is a high-level, current overview:
  • Tests administered (since June 8): 415 to student-athletes, coaches and Intercollegiate Athletics staff
  • Positive tests: 27 people tested positive and were isolated per medical protocols; 22 have completed isolation
  • Active cases: 5
  • No hospitalizations have been required; those testing positive were generally asymptomatic or had minor symptoms that resolved within a few days.
  • Contact tracing has taken place, with those impacted quarantining and/or self-monitoring per current public health guidelines.
  • Purdue Athletics continues daily medical check-ins and monitoring of those in isolation and quarantine.
