NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Junior Brian Faust broke the school record in the 600-meter run and redshirt freshman Johnny Vanos moved up in school record books in the weight throw as the Purdue track & field team opened competition at the Meyo Invitational on Friday evening at the Loftus Sports Center in Notre Dame, Indiana.

Competing 14 student-athletes in eight events on the first day of the Meyo Invite, the Boilermakers totaled five personal-best marks and earned five top-10 finishes.
Faust broke his own school record in the 600-meter event with a time of 1:17.20. As Faust won the event, he broke the program-record time of 1:17.66, which he set last season. Tonight's time is the third-fastest in the Big Ten Conference this season.
Vanos recorded the sixth-best mark in the weight throw, with a throw of 20.26 meters. He earned a career-best mark by more than a meter and moved up from No. 8 on Purdue's top-10 list in the event. With his first collegiate throw of more than 20 meters, Vanos finished first in his flight and eighth overall.
The opening event of the meet was the women's long jump, where senior Jaden Mattox earned Purdue's best finish of the day, as she placed second. She advanced to the finals and recorded a jump of 5.99 meters on her final jump of the day.
Sophomore Garrett Lee notched the Boilermaker's first personal-best time of the day. In the 60-meter hurdles, he finished in 9.15 seconds to best his previous PR by 0.05 seconds.
Senior Janae' Moffitt was third in the high jump, thanks to a jump of 1.74 meters.
The final event of the meet was the 600-meter run. Senior Samara Miller paced the Boilermaker women, as she placed eighth in 1:31.46. Freshman Ella Robinson finished with a personal-best time of 1:32.99.
Faust provided the highlight for the Purdue men to close out the evening, while sophomore Sean Johnson also earned a personal-best time (1:22.61).
