WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue baseball's month-long stretch in the Midwest begins with consecutive midweek matchups against Mid-American Conference opponents, visiting Ball State on Tuesday and hosting first-time opponent Bowling Green on Wednesday.
First pitch Tuesday at the Ball Diamond in Muncie is set for 3 p.m. ET. Game No. 2 of the home slate at Alexander Field features another 4 p.m. first pitch. Along with the $2 midweek bargains on general admission tickets, domestic draft beers, hot dogs and nachos, Wing Wednesdays also debuts this week. Fans can purchase five chicken wings for $5.
Each of the last two years, the road team has won both ends of the home-and-home midweek series between the Boilermakers and Cardinals. Purdue scored 16 runs on 21 hits on a frigid day in Muncie two years ago. Last season, a five-run ninth inning lifted the Boilermakers to their record-tying 13th consecutive victory. It was the seventh of Purdue's eight last at-bat wins in 2018.
Ball State was picked second in the MAC's preseason coaches poll after winning 32 games and finishing tied for second in the standings a year ago.
Bowling Green is the only current MAC team the Boilermakers have never played. The Falcons are the third and final first-time opponent on the schedule this year.
